Best for
Couples, families and longer northern Thailand stays combining culture with relaxation.
Mae Rim · Chiang Mai · Thailand
A serene Lanna-inspired retreat where rice paddies, tropical gardens and northern Thailand's mountains set the pace.
Why we recommend it
Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai sits in the Mae Rim Valley, surrounded by working rice paddies, lush gardens and misty mountain scenery. Its pavilions and villas draw on traditional Lanna architecture while providing the comfort and thoughtful service expected from Four Seasons.
This is an excellent choice for travellers who want to balance Chiang Mai's temples and markets with genuine time to slow down. Cooking, rice-culture experiences, restorative spa rituals and days exploring the countryside make the resort feel part of the destination rather than simply a place to stay.
“Choose Four Seasons Chiang Mai for its sense of place. The setting is wonderfully calm, yet the food, wellbeing and cultural experiences give every stay real depth.”

At a glance
Couples, families and longer northern Thailand stays combining culture with relaxation.
The peaceful Mae Rim Valley, with rice paddies, tropical gardens and mountain views.
Wara Cheewa Spa, yoga, breathwork and restorative experiences inspired by the surroundings.
Thai cooking, rice culture, herb gardens, countryside excursions and private dining.

Location & character
The resort lies in Mae Rim, outside Chiang Mai's busy centre. It is close enough to combine with the city's temples, galleries and markets, but sufficiently removed to feel like a countryside retreat.
Days can move between the resort's rice fields and gardens, excursions to the mountain landscapes around Doi Inthanon or Baan Mae Kampong, and carefully planned time in Chiang Mai itself.
Pavilions, villas & residences
Garden and Rice Terrace Pavilions provide a strong sense of place, while private Pool Villas and spacious two-, three- and four-bedroom residences offer more seclusion and flexibility for couples, families or friends.

Food, drink & atmosphere
The resort's restaurants, lounge and cooking school celebrate Northern Thai and Asian specialities. Dining can be as relaxed as a meal overlooking the paddies or as memorable as a private evening in a traditional rice barn.

Good to know
This is a countryside resort. It works especially well when city sightseeing and transfers are planned in advance rather than treated as spontaneous trips from the centre.
The outlook matters. Garden, upper-level and Rice Terrace Pavilions have different positions and views, so we will match the category carefully to your priorities.
Families have excellent options. Multi-bedroom residences and pool villas provide privacy and shared living space for longer stays or several generations.
Current arrangements are checked. We will confirm room inclusions, dining, activities and seasonal details when preparing your tailored quotation.
