Your journey, day by day

A considered pace, from arrival to departure

Day 1

Arrival in Negombo

Meet your private driver-guide at Colombo airport and make the short transfer to Negombo. The rest of the day is deliberately easy after your flight.

Day 2

Sigiriya & Habarana

Travel into the Cultural Triangle and climb Sigiriya rock fortress before checking in for two nights near Habarana.

Day 3

Village life & elephants

Explore Hiriwaduna on foot and by catamaran, finishing with a traditional village lunch. Later, take a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park.

Day 4

Dambulla & Kandy

Visit the painted caves of Dambulla before continuing to Kandy for the lake, local crafts, the Temple of the Tooth and an evening cultural performance.

Day 5

The hill-country railway

Take the celebrated train towards Nanu Oya, passing tea-covered hills and waterfalls. Visit a working tea factory before checking in at Nuwara Eliya. Train reservations are subject to availability.

Day 6

Galle

Travel south to Galle and explore its UNESCO-listed fort, colonial architecture and historic streets. Stay overnight within easy reach of the old town.

Day 7

Departure

Transfer from Galle to Colombo airport in time for your flight. If you prefer, this journey can instead flow into a longer beach stay.
